KINGS HEATH ARCHERS

Newsletter - February 2009

Just a little update to let you know, since our last meeting we got together with the directors of the Cricket Club and the new shooting times were agreed. these are now Tuesday evenings (April to October) from 6:00pm, Saturday mornings up to 12:30 pm and our usual Sundays from 10:00 am to 12 noon.

Several other items were discussed including grants to run an indoor and an outdoor competition, a barrier in front of the compost heap to prevent lost arrows and a shelter along the hedge for protection during bad weather. All these points are being followed up.

We will be checking out with Doverdale if we can take our novice archers on a field shoot. If anything is arranged for this and further shoots for all members we will let you know.

Swanshurst indoor shooting on fridays will end on the 27th March. we have had no word of any cancellations from them so every Friday up to and including the 27th are available.

We are in the process of contacting Arbury Estate with a view to holding a one-off national shoot in their grounds. what we need now is a group of archers to get together and form a planning committee. We will wait for a response from arbury about the site, availability and costs and will look at around a 2010 completion date.

We hope to get in touch with Bishop Challoner again about an indoor competition and also hope to contact Dame Elizabeth Cadbury and Selly Park Girls Schools since they now all have large sports halls available.

We will be provisionally booking Sunday 26th april for our A.G.M. in the Cricket club. There will be food provided, the presentation of awards, trophies and a raffle. the cost will be £4.00 per person. the meeting will start after shooting at around 12:30 - 1:00 pm. If anyone has a report to submit or comments to make please pass the information on to the secretary (Linda) as early as you can. We are also looking for nominations for committee posts, so if you want to take on any of these please put your name down.
